7(7-9-10-12) Balls BERROCO SUEDE (50 grs), #3735 Clint

Straight knitting needles, size 8 (5.00 mm)

Crochet hook, size 5.00 mm (H)



GAUGE

19 sts = 4”; 28 rows = 4” in St st

BACK

With straight needles, cast on 86(98-106-114-126) sts.

Ribbing: Row 1 (RS): K2, * p2, k2, rep from * across.

Row 2: P2, * k2, p2, rep from * across. Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 1 1/2”, end on WS, dec 0(1-1-0-1) st at each end of last row – 86(96-104-114-124) sts. Work in St st, dec 1 st each side every 1 1/4(1 1/4-1 1/4-1 1/2-1 1/2)” 5 times – 76(86-94-104-114) sts. Work even until piece measures 8 1/2(8 1/2-9-9 1/2-10)” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Armholes: Bind off 5(5-6-7-7) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 66(76-82-90-100) sts. Dec 1 st each side every RS row 5(10-10-12-14) times – 56(56-62-66-72) sts. Work even until armholes measure 7(7-7 1/2-8-8 1/2)”, end on WS.

Shape Shoulders: Bind off 5(5-6-7-9) sts at beg of the next 2 rows, then 4(4-6-7-8) sts at beg of the next 2 rows. Bind off remaining 38 sts.



LEFT FRONT

With straight needles, cast on 38(42-46-50-54) sts. Work in ribbing same as back for 1 1/2”, end on WS, dec 1(1-0-0-0) st at each end of last row – 36(40-46-50-54) sts. Work in St st, dec 1 st at beg of RS rows every 1 1/4(1 1/4- 1 1/4-1 1/2-1 1/2)” 5 times – 31(35-41-45-49) sts. Work even until piece measures 8 1/2(8 1/2-9-9 1/2-10)” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Armhole: Bind off 5(5-6-7-7) sts at beg of the next row, k to end – 26(30-35-38-42) sts. Purl 1 row. Dec 1 st at beg of the next 5(10-10-12-14) RS rows. AT THE SAME TIME, dec 1 st at end of the next RS row for neck. Continuing to dec at armhole edge, rep neck dec every 4th row 4(7-11-7-2) times more, then every 6th row 5(3-1-4-8) times. When all decs have been completed, work even on 9(9-12-14-17) sts until armhole measures 7(7-7 1/2-8-8 1/2)”, end on WS. Bind off 5(5-6-7-9) sts at armhole edge once, then 4(4-6-7-8) sts once for shoulder.



RIGHT FRONT

Work to correspond to left front, reversing all shaping. Work body decs at end of RS rows. Bind off for armhole and shoulder on WS rows. Work neck decs at beg of RS rows and armhole decs at end of RS rows.



SLEEVES

With straight needles, cast on 38(38-42-42-42) sts. Work in ribbing same as back for 1 1/2”, end on WS, dec 0(0-1-1-0) st at each end of last row – 38(38-40-40-42) sts. Work in St st, inc 1 st each side every 3/4(3/4-1/2-1/2-1/2)” 10(10-11-13-15) times – 58(58-62-66-72) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 9 1/2” from beg, end on WS.

Shape Cap: Bind off 5(5-6-7-7) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 48(48-50-52-58) sts. Dec 1 st each side every 4th row 0(0-1-3-2) times, then every RS row 17917-15-11-13) times, end on WS. Bind off remaining 14(14-18-24-28) sts.



FINISHING

Sew shoulder seams. Sew in sleeves. Sew side and sleeve seams.

Front/Neckband: With RS facing, using crochet hook, beg at lower right front edge, work in sc around entire front and neck edge to lower left front edge, working a multiple of 3 sc’s. Turn.

Row 2 (WS): Ch 5 (counts as 1 dc and ch 2), skip 2 sc’s, dc in next sc, * ch 2, skip 2 sc’s, dc in next sc, rep from * across. Turn.

Row 3: Ch 5 (counts as 1 dc and ch 2), skip ch-2 space, dc in next dc, * ch 2, skip ch-2 space, dc in next dc, rep from * across. Rep Row 3 six times more or until band measures 3”. Fasten off.
